High Quality Standards

Our high quality standards are put to the test straight out of the soil where we grow our beans and again at our local roaster where they are packaged and shipped. Right when our beans are harvested they are graded with high quality criteria ensuring no bean imperfections. Through proper size, aroma, color, purity, and ripeness; our beans quality assurance is always tested before being shipped away. Once at our roaster they are closely monitored through small batches along every step of the roasting process. Finally, our coffee is given a quality control taste test to promote high quality consistency before being packaged and shipped directly to you!

Fresh Locally Roasted

Pura Vida Coffees are drum roasted in small batches locally in Burlington, WA, and delivered fresh within days of being roasted.

Organic

Organic coffee is produced by farmers who emphasize the use of renewable resources and the conservation of soil and water to enhance environmental quality for future generations. Organic coffee is grown without synthetic fertilizers, pesticides or hormones. Organic farming protects the health of people and the planet by reducing overall exposure to toxic chemicals that can end up in the ground, air, water and food supply.

Shade Grown

Shade grown coffee is cultivated in the traditional way, below forest trees providing natural habitat. This method incorporates principles of natural ecology through wildlife management and climate control. Shade-grown coffee allows for less water pollution, less soil erosion, reduced threats to the environment and human health and even provides important habitat for both native and migratory bird species. Shade-grown trees house two-thirds of the bird species found in natural forests in the same geographic areas. Along with supporting the environment, it takes the beans much longer to mature and ripen when shade-grown so they end up with a more complex flavor.
